PUNCHINGMACHINE, PAPER, ELECTRIC MOTOR DRIVEN
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description in preference to Military Specification MIL-P-43244.
Salient characteristics.
The punching machine shall cleanly and accurately punch a predetermined number of holes of one size at a preset distance from the edge of the stack. Stacks up to 3/8 inches thick shall be punched at one time. Machines shall accommodate up to six sets of punches and dies at one time. Hole sizes, quantities and adjustments shall be changed over the full range of the following by changing punches and dies:

Punching operation shall consist of either direct punching operation by one step operation (by operation of a single switch or release lever) or, when it is the manufacturers practice, by switching the machine on and by subsequent activation of an additional stitch, level or release; releasing the head for the punching operation. In either case, the punching head shall return to its topmost position and stop upon completion of the punching stroke. Punching machines shall be suitable for use on either 208 or 220 volts single phase power supply or for the power requirements specified in the contract.
Standard. The punching machine units shall meet the applicable requirements for use as defined in the Standard of the National Fire Protection Association NFPA No. 70 - National Electric Code.
