COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
COPYING MACHINE, INDIRECT ELECTROSTATIC PROCESS
(PLAIN PAPER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This commercial item description covers indirect electrostatic process copying machines having specific characteristics as hereinafter specified.
Classification. Copiers furnished under this commercial item description shall be of the following styles as specified.
Style 1 – no reduction capabilities required.
Style 2 – minimum of one reduction mode required.
Salient chararacteristics:
Copy machines shall be newly manufactured (not rebuilt or remanufactured).
Copy speed – 8 letter-size (8 1/2“ X 11”) copies per minute, minimum.
Maximum delivery time for first copy (after warmup) – 12 seconds.
To operate on 120 volts AC 60 Hz electrical current.
Self-diagnostic system consisting of a minimum of three (3) lighted indicators which identify (a) needing toner, (b) needing paper, and (c) paper misfeed or jam.
Paper tray (minimum of one to be furnished) capable of handling the paper sizes described below.
Capability to copy on the following mediums, as a minimum:
Plain cut sheet paper conforming to the requirements of commercial Item Description A-A-1912, two sizes; 8 1/2” X 11” and 8 1/2” X 14”.
Self-adhesive labels.
Transparencies
Capability to copy pages of bounds documents.
Shall be in accordance with U.L. Standard No. 114.
Multiple copy switch (minimum of 1-19 copies)
Capability to copy carbonless blues ( see test procedure II.)
Flat-bed platen capable of handling originals of up to 8 1/2” X 14”.
Operator activated control which provides for darkening or lightening of copies.
Shall copy to within 7mm of the edge of the paper.
In style 2 machines the reduction mode shall produce copies that are 74 + 4 percent the size of the original.
