COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
COPYING MACHINE, INDIRECT ELECTROSTATIC PROCESS
(PORTABLE; PLAIN PAPER)
The General Services Administration has authorized the use of this commercial item description.
This description covers two types of portable copiers, one having a carrying case and the other having either a handle or carrying case.
Classification. Copiers furnished under this commercial item description shall be of two types, as hereinafter defined.
Type I - With automatic paper feed and heavy duty, rigid carrying case.
Type II - With handle or carrying case.
Salient characteristics:
Copying machines shall be newly manufactured (not rebuilt or remanufactured).
For Type I machines, the copy speed shall be 5 letter-size (8-1/2” x 11”) copies per minute, minimum, when tested as specified in Test Procedure 111.
For Type 11 machines, the maximum delivery time for first copy (after warmup) shall be 15 seconds.
Shall operate on 120 volt, 60 Hz AC electrical current.
Paper supply (tray or stack feed) for Type I machines shall hold a minimum of 40 sheets of paper. For Type II machines, no paper supply capacity is specified.
Shall be capable of copying 8-1/2” x 11” originals, full size (1:1 ratio).
Copiers shall utilize 8-1/2” x 11” paper which meets the requirements of Commercial Item Description A-A-1912.
Shall be in accordance with UL Standard No. 114.
Capability to copy carbonless blues (See Test Procedure 11).
